My work explores the complex emotional landscape of motherhood—the profound love, guilt, boredom, frustration, humor, tenderness, and amusement that can coexist within everyday life. Working with photography, digital collage, and drawing, I create images that move between observation and invention, using my own photographs as fragments to construct layered visual narratives. Drawing from my family’s history with quilting, I have begun creating “life quilts,” digitally constructed works that reference traditional quilt patterns and the practice of assembling individual pieces into a larger whole. These works honor quilting as a way of preserving memory and family history while translating its language into contemporary photographic practice. By collecting, altering, and reassembling photographs and drawn elements, I consider how ordinary moments accumulate into a life, and how the experience of motherhood is simultaneously deeply personal and universally recognizable.
