Hot Mom Summer: Scattered, Smothered
Moku hanga (Japanese wood block print)

Here we are propelling our squishy human bodies through time and space. What a wonder! In an age of artificial intelligence, hyper-surveillance, and body dysmorphia, I turn to the human body as a reminder of our astonishing physicality and resolute mortality. I am especially interested in the parallels between our human bodies and the complex ecologies that surround us. Why is it so hard for us to take care of ourselves, one another, and our lands? What might move us to recognize and celebrate our interdependence? In response to these questions, I draw and paint the people and places who populate my interconnected networks, working as if the intimacy of representational rendering might reveal to me the secrets of our mutual thriving.
