This device considers the delicate human heart & heartache through ritual application to its symbolic flames, gently quashing them. The felted scrubber pad is felted fur from my beloved pet impregnated with flame-retardant salts that embue the soothing apparatus.

I create sculptural instruments, wearable forms, and speculative devices that exist somewhere between ritual object, relic, and invention. Through metalsmithing and other fabrication processes, I create devices and situations that establish conditions for improbable conversations with landscapes, historic sites, objects, stories, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. These devices are designed to mediate improbable conversations. Equal parts earnest and absurd, they serve as metaphorical coping mechanisms, coaxing encounters that open space for communication, reflection, and meaning-making. Accompanied by concise texts and photographs that suggest their intended use, the works invite viewers to continue the conversation through their own imagination.
