My hand-built ceramic work positions pattern as a site of tension between order and instability. Drawing from textiles, quilts, and tile traditions, I use repetition and structure to examine how systems of expectation shape lived experience. Pattern becomes both framework and constraint, revealing how rigid ideals shift when applied to bodies, spaces, and histories. The work considers place and home, where familiarity can move between comfort and containment. Tiles reference durability and ornamentation, while vessels serve as metaphors for human experience, carrying traces of memory and resilience. Through repeated forms, layered surfaces, and earthy terra cotta, I explore accumulated histories and inheritance. Visible marks from pinching, squeezing, and manipulating the clay record endurance and transformation.
