Sea Dax

My practice is built on a lifelong fear of forgetting and a fascination with the unreliable nature of memory within the context of home, family, and queer temporalities. I draw from queer and trans archives, personal ephemera, zine/DIY, and folk art aesthetics. My work is multidisciplinary, ranging from painting and drawing to mixed media collage and installation. I want to empower other trans artists to continue telling their stories, sharing the intricacy and intimacy of their experiences without hesitance, and making their work despite the influx of anti-trans fear mongering rhetoric and legislative action growing across the country. I believe that remembering is not only an act of preservation but of agency—through it, we assert our right to exist, to be seen, and to shape what comes next.
