Parallels II

Artist statement:
Made while in residence at Kinhouse, Parallels II is a tangible culmination of my year in the Kinhouse Cohort. Beginning at my indigo vat, I hand-dyed the fine linen threads which were then used to form the stitched, overlapping woven composition. Parallels II renders into color and substance an interpretation of the rich, transparent, and layered connections I experienced during the past year; connections made with the eleven other artists, connections made between ideas and intentions, and connections made in my studio and my practice. I have encountered parallels running true between my work and the work and inspirations of these friends, and I have discovered parallels between where I was a year ago and where I am now; through lines that have been running beside each other, similarities that have invited and nourished new growth.
