Patchwork gathers artists whose work engages the quilt not simply as object but as a way of thinking — piecing together fragments, scraps, and repeated forms into something larger than their parts. The exhibition spans traditional textile pieces alongside ceramic works, photographs, and paintings that take up the quilt as subject and structure — borrowing its grids, blocks, and rhythmic patterning even where fabric is absent, or turning the camera and the brush toward quilts themselves as objects of memory and craft. Across these varied media, a throughline emerges: improvisation held together by structure, and softness built from labor. Artists here reuse, salvage, and reconfigure — finding in the discarded and the leftover a material logic that mirrors how communities themselves are stitched together over time. Presented at Kinhouse Gallery in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with an accompanying catalog extending the conversation beyond the gallery walls, Patchwork celebrates the handmade, the improvised, and the collective act of making something whole out of what remains.
