How we spend our days, is of course, how we spend our lives” the poet Annie Dillard wrote. In an era of consumption and immediate gratification we desperately need reduction and simplification. It can feel uncouth to focus on addition and acquisition, and yet, an artist’s practice accumulates. Neither immediate nor inane, it is a gradual gathering of moments, built with materials and marked by milestones that add up over the years. This exhibition brings together works from 8 artists reflecting the expansive process of an artist’s practice. Supplies are gathered from trash bins, shooting ranges, thrift stores, art stores and garages. Moments are stolen for the studio from lives filled with parenting, job juggling, community, care and more. This curated collection of artwork celebrates the accumulated, the process of building (and burning) and the quiet nuance of a practice of art making and artful living that builds over time.
